What’s In The Bag: Garcia + van der Walt

Big weekend for TaylorMade

Big weekend for TaylorMade

Sergio Garcia had a big weekend with a convincing 4-stroke victory at the Thailand Championship this week and in South Africa, Dawie van der Walt grabbed his second career European Title at the Nelson Mandela Championship.

Playing against a strong field that included Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson, Sergio kept his foot on the gas in the final round to post a 22-under 266. Sergio hit blistering drives off the tee with a TaylorMade SLDR and became the first player to win with the company’s new Tour Preferred MC irons. Sergio’s most memorable shot with his new iron was an ace at the 198-yard, par-3 eighth hole during Friday’s second round.

In South Africa, Dawie van der Walt carded a four-under 66 to win the rain-shortened Nelson Mandela Championship at Mount Edgecombe Country Club. The victory marked the second European Tour win for van der Walt this year, having previously won the Tshwane Open in March.
